Iconic rapper Eve is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her influential album Scorpion with a newly released collector’s edition. The milestone is being honored with a limited red-and-black splatter double-LP that includes a signed insert.

Originally released on March 6, 2001, Scorpion became one of the defining hip-hop albums of the early 2000s. The project featured major hits such as Who’s That Girl? and the chart-smashing Let Me Blow Ya Mind with Gwen Stefani, which climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later earned the first-ever Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

Reflecting on the song years later, Eve explained how deeply involved she was in its creation. “It’s the one song that I wrote fully—like, literally every single thing, every word. I write my own stuff, but usually I get lazy after I write verses,” she said in a past interview. She added that producer Dr. Dre pushed her to finish the track: “I don’t want to write the chords, and Dre was like, ‘You’re not leaving the studio until this song is done.’ I hated him that day, but I’m so happy he made me stay.”

Eve also recalled skepticism after critics questioned whether pairing two female artists would work: “I got told… that people would be like, ‘Why are these two chicks together?’” She remembered suggesting they try it anyway: “I was like, ‘Look, let’s try it. If it sucks, no one ever has to hear it.’ But of course it didn’t. I knew it wouldn’t.”

The album ultimately became a global success, earning platinum certifications in the United States and Canada and gold status in the United Kingdom and France The 16-track record also featured appearances from artists such as DMX, Damian Marley, and Stephen Marley.

Looking back, Eve remembers both the excitement and the pressure surrounding the project’s release. “I still love that album. When I look at the pictures of it and that time, I still love the creative of it,” she said. “And I did have fun doing that album, but I definitely felt the pressure of the industry… like, ‘OK, first time, cool. But can she last?’ There was lots of — it was like being under a microscope a little bit.”
